The Sun, The Sea, and Naps

There is something about the Caribbean that is so enchanting. I think it’s the beautiful beaches with blue clear water but it could also be the warm breezes that wisps your hair that really draw you in. Whatever it is, it makes leaving any of the islands very hard to do.

We just came back from visiting Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. We loved it. Here are a few pictures from our trip. (All pictures taken and edited on my iPhone!)

Highlights of our trip:

-Plenty of sun. I must have reptile blood because nothing makes me happier than the sun being out!

-Snorkeling and being tickled by the fish. It almost scares me when the fish brush up against me but at the same time I find it amazing.

-Getting caught in the rain. When we were exploring St. Thomas it suddenly started raining really hard. We were SOAKED but it was refreshing and soon the sun came out and dried us off. All the little crabs came out when it rained too!

-Bright colors. I love how one building/home will be pink, the next yellow, the next blue, then green, and then purple! Gorgeous, especially against the blue sea.

-Lazing in the hammock. I officially want a hammock on the patio of my future home. So relaxing. I fell asleep every time I curled up on one. Long naps in the sun with the sound of the ocean not far off? Yes, please.

-Really good food. So good I’m afraid to get on the scale. This trip also confirmed that I still have a huge weakness for pina coladas. No vacation is complete for me without them.

-No internet, computer, or cell phone service. This was probably the best part of the entire trip. Early on while planning for our trip Travis and I decided that we wouldn’t bring either of our laptops, or any electronic device (like an iPad), and we would keep our phones off(airplane mode). Doing this forced us (read: me) to relax and really just enjoy our trip without thinking about email, etc. We read books we had been meaning to catch up on, I slept a lot, and we enjoyed sitting down for long dinners.

Happy Monday!
