Quote of the Week | Blessings

A few years ago I found this quote as I was going through a very difficult time. When I read this it hit me that I was focusing on looking for blessings I was expecting, and missing so many others. I think I know what is best for me but the truth is, He always has a better plan than I ever could have imagined.

Sometimes blessings are packaged as trials. This entire law school journey has been challenging at times, but every hardship that came our way turned into a blessing. Every time.

This week I’m challenging myself to look for blessings in unexpected places. I hope you’ll join me!

How many times do we miss blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? -Author Unknown.

Life in Squares | April 2013

Always from left to right. 1. Welcome to my life in squares. 2. At the beginning of April we had a few really warm days. It fooled me into thinking spring was right around the corner. I even went shopping for summer dresses and capris thinking I would be wearing them soon… nope! I should know by know that spring in the midwest is always unpredictable. 3. The annual flower show at Macy’s on State Street. Just amazing.

1. Lots of April showers means plenty of puddles and rain boots. 2. A rainy, foggy day on our street. 3. Another foggy day on Michigan Avenue.

1. Guess had a party sponsored by Teen Vogue. We sort of stumbled upon it and I could have stayed all night. Free hair styling, manicures, cake pops, and these amazing watermelon mint limeades complete with a pink straw.2. My potted daffodils bloomed! 3. Went to Target and came home with this CD.

1. An early, foggy morning in the city. Magical. 2. Colorado sunsets are the best. Clear skies make for beautiful colors. 3. Colorado skies…a little piece of heaven. There is nothing quite like it.

Quote of the Week | Time

Why does it feel like time keeps flying by faster and faster? I like this quote because it reminds me that even though often times I feel like time is flying away from me, I am still in charge of how I spend the time given to me.

Even if time feels to be going faster, we all have the same amount of time…24 hours every day. No more, no less. One of the best known secrets of success is managing time wisely, and goodness it’s hard.

Here’s to taking charge of this week! Happy Monday!

Hilary & Justin | Married

A few weeks ago, Hilary and Justin’s wedding was featured over at I Love Farm Weddings! Now I can finally share a few of my personal favorites from their amazing day.

Their wedding was held at Hilary’s home and farm in Beal City, Michigan:

I instantly fell in love with their family farm, especially these horses!

Hilary’s amazing bouquet:

Hilary had such perfect, delicate details:

Hilary and Justin chose to have a first look and it couldn’t have been any sweeter:

Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day!

Super sweet flower girls:

Hilary’s family created their beautiful alter. Their ceremony was so sweet. Hilary said, “We wanted to have the wedding there because it was where I learned the important lessons that brought us together – how to love and be loved.”

Just married!

Super colorful bridesmaids:

Just in love with these boots!

Hilary had bracelets made for all of her bridesmaids:

The complete bridal party!

Justin’s mother handmade the groomsmen boleros:

Probably my favorite wedding picture..EVER. As we were taking portraits this cow kept watching us so curiously:

Best wedding day boots!

As if I wasn’t already obsessed with their beautiful farm, Hilary then showed me their peach trees!

Seating arrangements for dinner:

Yes, the wood is from their farm:

Hilary’s ring is actually a family heirloom, the band was Justin’s great-grandmother’s, and the diamond his grandmother’s:

Sun setting over a their corn field:

I could keep gushing about their wedding day. If you’d like to learn more about their wedding, see their feature here.

Quote | Nature

Happy Earth Day! I love this beautiful earth we all share. I believe nature can teach us so much and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that nature pops up in our favorite analogies and metaphors – how a minuscule mustard seed can grow into so much more, how the small caterpillar will become a beautiful butterfly, and the uniqueness of each snowflake.

Currently we are waiting for the tulips to bloom, it is my favorite part of spring. They haven’t bloomed yet, but I know it will happen. Nature cannot rush, it does everything in it’s own time. It is patient, it withstands any storm that comes its way, and it still keeps going. ”Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” Slow down, take a breath, and remember that everything on your list will eventually get done.
